Evelyn Margaret Edgar

Peacefully on September 7, 2024, after a short stay at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, Evelyn Margaret Edgar passed away just 16 days before her 98th birthday. Evelyn is survived by her loving sons Bob (Shari), Don (Susan), and Jerry. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of 65 years Douglas Edgar (2014), son Gordon Edgar (2001), brother Duncan (Sadie) McPhee, and parents Anna and Robert McPhee. Nana will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Debbie (Jeff) Cross, Joe (Jessica) Edgar, Nick (Rebecca) Edgar, Jeannie (Mike) Etchells, and David Edgar, as well as her great grandchildren Carter, Wyatt, and Easton Cross; Liam and Claire Edgar; and Sebastian and Francesca Etchells.  

Evelyn married Douglas in 1948 and together they farmed and raised their family on Lot 7, Concession 10 Brooke Township before moving to Alvinston in 1988. Evelyn was a member of Walnut United Church and Hope United Church in Alvinston. Evelyn was active in the Church’s UCW. Evelyn was a caregiver who spent much of her life looking after her family. She looked after her parents and in-laws in their declining years and her husband Douglas and her son Gordon, who both experienced many health problems. She spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the PSW staff Charlene, Candy, and Diane for their support that allowed Evelyn to remain in her home until June of this year. The family would like to thank Jerry for his many years of dedication and care to his parents that allowed them to remain in their home for as long as possible.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF WATFORD on Thursday September 12, 2024, from, 11:00am until 1:00pm. A funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00pm at the funeral home. A reception will follow with burial to take place in Alvinston Cemetery.

In memory of Evelyn, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Hope United Church.
