Obituary of Raymond Hanson

Raymond Theodore Hanson, Jr.,

Passed peacefully at Highview Residence in London, ON, on June 4^th, 2023.

Ray is survived by his wife Ria Rops, daughter Beth Hanson, son John (Jacqueline) Hanson, and daughter Jenny (Ed) Veeke. Ray was the beloved Papa to Paul (Vanessa) and Brian Veeke, Hailey (Sean) and Cameron Hanson.

Also survived by his brothers Gary (Deanne) and David Hanson, sister June (Conrad) Huge and Gloria (Paul) Sorby, brother-in-law Wayne (Islay) Edwards, sisters-in-law Brenda (late Garry) Barker and Norma (Randy) Hills and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was pre-deceased by Marilyn, his beloved wife of 35 years.

Ray was born in Minnesota and was a proud American (serving in the US Navy) and later became a proud citizen of Canada. He was an accomplished businessman and loved sailing, fishing, reading and most of all loved being surrounded by family. His most cherished title was “Papa”, and he was so grateful, later in life, to be included in Ria’s large and loving family. 

Visitation will be held at the DENNING’s OF WATFORD, on Tuesday, June 6^th, 2023, from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. In keeping with Ray’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ray’s name may be made to any of the following: Highview Residence in London, The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or Parkinson Canada.
