Very sorry to hear of Rod's passing. He was a great teacher and a big part of WDHS. My Father and Rod sat at the same table for meals at Brookside and he always had a story to tell , a very kind man. May he rest in peace.

I never studied geography at ELSS but remember Mr Glen fondly as one of the teachers you could go to if you needed to talk. He understood the misfits and outsiders, and was always very kind. He was a good, decent man and his absence will be keenly felt. Rest in Peace, Mr Glen.

Mr. Glen taught me at ELSS, in a subject I did poorly in, in a dynamic I struggled with. I flew under the radar for the most part and moved away unnoticed. On a visit home I bumped in to Mr. Glen on Main Street in Watford and he recognized me right away. I told him I couldn't believe he remembered me and he proceeded to tell me all he remembered about me. I didn't fit in at all, but Mr. Glen took note and remembered me as well as I remembered him. That made such an impact on me and has been a lesson I have cherished these last few years. Thank you, Mr. Glen. Rest Peacefully.

Rod was one of a kind. I was his colleque up on the second floor of ELSS and I remember the many laughs and discussions we had to save the world. He was generous with his time and mindful of the needs of others.
He was the heart of ELSS. His pride in the accomplishments of the students was huge. Rod was MR ELSS.
Thank you Rod for being such a great human being and friend.

Rod Glen was the type of teacher who made an impact and one remembered long after graduation. He was a kind man, always finding good in another. He was a good friend to my Dad Bill Jenkins, and I hope they are having a heartfelt reunion.

Mr. Glen was one of my favourite teachers at ELSS...I have a love of Geography and learning because of him. Always a kind word for everyone, and so supportive of every student, with a great sense of humour. He always made us think, with so many great conversations. He was one of the reasons ELSS was considered a ‘jewel’ of a school. My thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

What I really liked about Mr. Glen was that he was a smart man with a drive to help students succeed and did not make any student feel incompetent . May he Rest In Peace with the Angels God Bless his family and friends . Debbie (Nemcek) McAleer

Rod was the best! His best advice to me as a teacher was to keep baby wipes in the fridge to help you cool down in hot weater by putting them on your head or wiping your face etc. I still do this. He was always supportive of our 'shows' and gave me a lot of praise and encouragement. However, all the praise needs to be on the wonderful students of ELSS.

RIP Mr. Glen. You were one of a kind, the best geography teacher a high schooler ever had. You captured my imagination with Thor Heyerdahl - and I treasure his book, Fatu Hiva, you lent me, then gave me, so many years ago. It was because of you that I learned the love of travel, the excitement of the unknown.
Thank you and say hi to Thor when you see him.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Glen. He was one of my teachers in high school and a McGregor neighbour as well. He was a good man with a kind heart. I remember when he invited myself and other incoming Grade 9 students from our neighbourhood to get a personal orientation of East Lambton Secondary School before the school year started. I remember standing in the hallway with all of the new lockers that were designated for the senior students and him telling us to pick any one we wanted. Neighbourhood perk, I guess. I am now a teacher in that same building and when I walk by the locker, I often think of him and how out of place I felt in a hallway of Grade 12 students who couldn't figure out how a Grade 9 student managed to score one of the "nice" lockers. I loved the map game he played in class, the stories he told and stories told about him from my parents who had him as a teacher as well. He will be missed in our little community.
