Obituary of Murray Hopper

At Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on May 24th, 2007, Murray James Hopper of Watford Quality Care, formerly of Forest in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Vance)(McKay) Hopper (1998). Survived by his brother Bernard (Grace) Hopper of Forest and step sister Doris Mossington of Barrie. Step daughter Jean Lockrey of London, step son Ivan (Eleanore) McKay of Glencoe, son James (Marion) Hopper of Petrolia, son in law Jim Crozier (Margaret)(1992) of Old Castle. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by brothers Garnet (1944), Frank (1881), Bert (1884), Norm (1994), step brother Bruce (1993), Garth (1982) and step sister Elsie. Murray was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War and a 60 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #176, Forest. He was a co owner with brothers Bernard and Frank of the Hopper's Foundry of Forest, Ontario which they sold in 1977 but still bears their name. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends, especially those at Orchard View Park where he camped for many years. Visitation will be held at the Ronn E. Dodge Funeral Home (9 James St. at Watt St.) in Forest on Sunday, May 27th, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9pm with a Legion walk through at 7pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 28th, at 1pm with Rev. Cathy Larmond officiating. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Forest.
