Obituary of James Beachey
JAMES MICHAEL BEACHEY 1929-2013
James Michael Beachey, patriarch of the large Beachey Clan, died in Forest, Ontario on Thursday, June 20, 2013. His peaceful death, in the presence of his wife and children, was aided by the superb nursing skills of the North Lambton Lodge staff. Jim had fought a very long battle with Parkinsons Disease, which he had borne with great fortitude.
Survived by one sister, Loretta Busch, (his last sibling, out of a total of fourteen) his wife: Anne Kavanagh, daughter: Christine Beachey Ward, three sons: David, Michael and Mark; one foster-child, Linda MacDonald and five grandchildren: Michael Beachey Jr., Matthew Beachey; Danielle Beachey; Jonathan Ward; Thomas McIntosh. More than forty surviving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews to numerous to mention.
Jim was born, along with his identical twin brother, on February 15, 1929, in Trout Creek, Ontario.
Predeceased by parents, Alvin and Eleanora (Hummel); brother: Cyril, Raymond, Gilbert, Hubert, John (Jack, twin brother) and little Bernard, sisters: Helen Schmelefsky, Rose Evers, Alice McEachen, Ida Andrews Easton, Theresa Major, and Mary Graveline.
Jim was an electrical journeyman at Dow Chemical, Sarnia for much of his adult life. In 1974 he sustained burns over forty-per-cent of his body in an industrial accident. Bravely, he made a slow recovery which included numerous operations and skin grafts.
He was an early member of the Solar Energy Society of Lambton County and a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at Saint Benedict's Church, Sarnia. For thirty years he was a faithful member of Saint Christopher's Church, Forest, eventually struggling up the aisle every week with his walker.
We have been blessed to have a husband, father and grandfather who always put his family before himself. In memory of Jim, please donate to The Parkinson Society of Canada, 4500 Blakie Road, Unit 117, London, Ontario N6L 1G5. Jim's Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the NEW Saint Christopher's Church, 68 Union Street, Forest, on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10:00 am.
