Obituary of Gary De Vet
DeVet, Gary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gary De Vet, of Kerwood, in his 60th year. With his wife at his side, he passed away very unexpectedly on February 20th, 2013, while vacationing in Florida. Gary is survived by his loving wife and best friend Joanne (Van Asseldonk). His kind and gentle nature will be sadly missed by his mother Jeannette De Vet, Watford, his siblings John (Deb) De Vet, Arkona, Lucy (Wayne) Sigurdson, New Hamburg, Peter (Rose) De Vet, Arkona, Regina (Leo) Sanders, Watford, Mary (Joseph) Terpstra, Union, Jeannette (Doug) Pedlar, Grand Bend, Linda Wellington, Midland, Michigan, and Bernadette (John) Holman, London, his mother-in-law Hendrika Van Asseldonk, Parkhill, and his in-laws Mary (John) Vanos, Delaware, Frances (Simon) Van Riel, Forest, Jack (Allison) Van Asseldonk, Parkhill, and Rita (John) Dortmans, Adelaide. Gary will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He is predeceased by his father, John De Vet and his father-in-law Adrian Van Asseldonk.
Visitation will be held at the FOREST CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS (9 James St. South, Forest) on Monday, February 25th, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013, at 11:00 am at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church, 68 Union Street, Forest. Private interment will be at Arkona Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Gary's honour be made to the Order of Alhambra - Algarva 168 or to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society. Donations and condolences may be left online at www.denningfuneralhome.com.
